Appi Kogen, Japan, one of the largest ski resorts in the country, has been labeled as the Japanese equivalent to Aspen, Colorado. In operation since the 1980s, the resort is very high class and offers a variety of good snow terrain, and since Appi Kogen was built during an economic boom in Japan, the resort offers a lot of high-quality services and activities. The nightlife is mostly geared towards Japanese citizens, but the resort does cater very well to English speakers. There are many food options to choose from as the base of the mountain is home to a variety of restaurants and hotels, which each have their own bars, and karaoke is available at a few of them as well.
