A popular destination in South America for tourists is Rio de Janeiro, a prominent city in Brazil. It is not only stunning as a natural environment, but has also hosted significant sporting events such as the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup in 2014 and the 2016 Summer Olympics. As far as architecture goes, residential buildings vary in quality. However, there is an iconic statue watching over the city, known as ‘Christ the Redeemer.’ Copacabana and Ipanema provide top beach experiences for visitors looking take advantage of warm weather and populous sites. Another magnetic drawing point for visitors in Rio is the annual Carnival. Widely considered one of the largest festivals in the world, Carnival hosts over two million guests daily and celebrates through costumes, dance, and gatherings. With plenty to do and a dense population, Rio can be a little much for quieter visitors. Luckily, the next destination is a more natural place that is impossible to resist.
