The Burj Khalifa is next up and is currently one of the most impressive buildings in the world, both in design and in height. Stretching impressive feet of eight-hundred-twenty-eight meters, it is currently the tallest building on earth with one-hundred-six stories. As the largest freestanding construction across the globe, Dubai is a proud host of such a tourist magnet with bringing countless visitors on an annual basis to marvel under this impressive piece of work construction started back in 2004 and finishing approximately five years later in 2009. Architecturally speaking the Burj uses a tube design which allows such a tall structure to use much less steel than usual, a concept used on the infamous Willis Tower; design for the Khalifa was managed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM) well known for other projects in New York City, such as the One World Trade Center. Beating the tallest building in the world is a tough task. However, the following slide is one of the most amazing spectacles, not in height but value.
